| A two drawer painted commode with a marble top and bronze handles | |
| Expertise: | |
This extremely fine two-drawer (sans traverse) Genoese commode is based, as is most Genoese furniture, on the best Parisian designs of the period, but with the addition of the fanciful Italian lacquer work. This piece with its fine gilt bronze mountings with their original finish and its graceful shape is a superlative example of an Italian chest of drawers.
